Accounting Clerk

The ideal candidate for the role would be detail oriented, reliable, capable of working independently, and in a team environment

Reporting to the Director of Finance, responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Full cycle accounting including A/P, A/R, Prepaid expenses, bank reconciliations and other month end journal entries and reports
  • Record day-to-day bank transactions and post to GLs
  • Review and post complex journal entries including daily mortgage transactions such as fundings, fees and payouts
  • Prepare and review employee expense and credit card reimbursements
  • Prepare and remit property taxes to various municipalities
  • Remit monthly government payments for HST/GST and corporate tax
  • Preparation of supporting documents for the year-end financial audit
  • Performance of other accounting tasks for the parent company and/or other companies within the group
  • Performance of other duties as directed by Management.

The candidate should be a flexible team player that can efficiently prioritize their work and execute tasks in a timely manner.

What we are looking for:

  • University degree or college diploma (preferred but not required)
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks
  • Ability to process a high volume of transactions on a daily basis
  • Have a self-starter attitude with well-developed time management skills and the commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Possess strong technical skills and a fine attention to detail
  • Experience in the mortgage industry considered an asset
